How to live a holistic lifestyle a simple guide to holistic living

We often wonder why we have so many problems in the world. Did you know over 40% of the people in our own country deal with ongoing, chronic illnesses? This includes everything from depression and anxiety to hypertension and diabetes.

Surely, this isn’t just a way of life, right? Did people hundreds and thousands of years ago battle things like cancer, diabetes, and depression? Why do we, a society of advanced technology and medicine, have so many issues?

Part of the problem is that few people live a holistic lifestyle. Instead, we rely on heavily-processed foods for our diet, chemicals for our body care, and synthetic substances for our healthcare.

While there are certainly benefits to living in our current society, there are also some downfalls. Keep reading to learn more about how to live a holistic life and return to a more natural way of living.

1. Fuel your body with whole, nutritious foods

We are what we eat. If you constantly consume fast-food, snacks, candy, and soda, you’re going to feel like garbage. You’re introducing a lot of chemicals and unhealthy foods into your system.

Instead, make whole foods a staple of your diet. Focus on:

  • • Fruits
  • • Vegetables
  • • Nuts and Legumes
  • • Seeds
  • • Whole grains

Treat your body like a high-end car. You only want to provide the best fuel. You can also look into health supplements, such as those from Ayurherbs Ayurveda Clinic that can help improve your mental and physical health.

2. Take time for self-care

For most of us, holistic living means finding ways to reduce stress. We can’t necessarily remove external stressors from our life, but we can find better ways to deal with them. We recommend taking the time to adopt healthy self-care habits.

This can include anything from working out and doing yoga to setting aside time to read or meditate every night.

3. Practice mindfulness

Another important factor for a holistic lifestyle is self-awareness. Most people are quick to judge others but rarely take the time to practice mindfulness to adjust their own negative thought patterns and behaviours. These thought patterns could be focused on others or yourself.

The goal is to recognize thought patterns that lead to stress, anxiety, anger, depression, etc. When you can identify these negative thoughts, you can start reframing them in your mind. For example, instead of being angry with the driver who cut you off, consider the possibility that they’re distracted because they had a terrible day at work or their spouse is leaving them.

4. Focus on your physical health

Other practical holistic living tips include taking care of your physical health. This helps you keep in-tune with your body and stay grounded. Staying fit has a myriad of other benefits, as well.

You don’t have to become a gym rat or start running every morning at 5 am. However, you should make it a goal to move your body at least three to five times a week in a way that improves your fitness.

5. Think, act, and live intentionally

If you’re asking, “How can I be holistic?” it’s all about intention. Most people don’t understand how important the intention behind our thoughts and actions are. What we put out in the universe, we receive.

This is the theory of attraction. If you constantly worry about money, you’re going to have money issues. If you constantly worry about gaining weight, you’re going to gain weight.

To lead a holistic lifestyle, live intentionally.
