Ottawa traffic impacts due to contuing protest

OTTAWA, ON, Feb. 6, 2022 – For downtown Ottawa residents, you don’t need to be told there is an ongoing protest disrupting movement, business operation and your daily lives. But the City of Ottawa is advising residents to expect major traffic impacts and disruptions this weekend in the downtown core and across the city.

“The number of demonstrators is expected to increase over the weekend,” reads a news release from the City.

Not that getting around downtown extremely difficult but the City urges Ottawa residents to avoid non-essential travel in or around the downtown core.

Major traffic disruptions.

The City says Ottawa residents can track of the latest traffic information by utilizing traffic monitoring apps or follow the City’s Traffic Twitter account and our online traffic map. Residents should also be aware that details may change on short notice and additional roads may be affected.

All bus routes with service downtown are expected to remain on detour, until service can be reliably returned to downtown streets. Residents who need to travel in and out of the downtown core should use O-Train Line 1.
