GATINEAU, May 25, 2023 – From August 31st to September 4th, La Baie Park will become a huge playground for families during the Festival de montgolfières de Gatineau (FMG). Zip lines, rides, video games, athletic activities, dancing and family shows await you! Everything is set to offer you a colourful experience during Labour Day weekend.
DESJARDINS FAMILY ZONE
From Saturday to Monday, families can have fun with a wide range of activities offered in the Desjardins Family Zone!
Fly over La Baie Park by launching yourself from a 35-foot high platform with the new 100-foot zip line! Work up a sweat with Decathlon’s athletic activities and RX1’s physical challenges. Work off your energy in the inflatable games or let your personality shine through in the children’s face painting station.
FAMILY FUN TAKES THE STAGE
Three youth shows will be presented on the FMG stages. Youth rocker Atchoum (Saturday, Sept. 2nd) will have young and old alike tapping their toes with her bubbly personality and funny lyrics. Les Petites Tounes (Sunday, Sept. 3rd) will have young and old alike dancing with their catchy songs in the show Faut toujours faire comme les grands. Set out to conquer space with Atlas Géocircus (Monday, Sept. 4th)! This Globetrotter, tightrope walker and comet juggler promises a unique space circus show.
DESJARDINS FAMILY DAY
Join in the fun on Monday, September 4th at 10:30 am for Desjardins Family Day! Get your daily passes for only $11.99 + taxes for the last day of the FMG. Children aged 10 and under have free access to the Festival site, with a ticket reservation.
In addition to all the activities and entertainment in the Desjardins Family Zone, a dance show bringing together the region’s dance schools will be presented on the Hydro-Québec Stage in the afternoon.
7 SPECIAL-SHAPED HOT AIR BALLOONS ON DISPLAY
Of course, hot air balloons will be in the spotlight at the 36th FMG. With the new multimedia night glow, rediscover the world of hot air balloons from a new perspective! Don’t miss the hot air balloon flights, with 7 special shapes on display this year. Come see Miss Birdy the giant elephant, Whale-n the whale, Aphasia World Warrior, Ratcheese the colourful mouse, BB-BOT the robot, and Chip Monk, a brand new hot air balloon! Super FMG will also be added to the twenty or so hot air balloons that will be on display in the La Baie Park.
Get free access to the Festival site to see the morning hot air balloon flights up close, from about 6 am Friday to Monday. Test your knowledge of hot air ballooning by exploring a hot air balloon envelope or by talking to our pilots during the Meet the hot air balloon pilots activity.
ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG AND OLD
There is something for everyone at the FMC! The Mobile Arcade is back, at the entrance of the Chill Zone, where you can enjoy the musical atmosphere and take a break. For those who prefer thrills, visit the Beauce Carnaval Amusement Park. Shop at our new La Baie Market or take the afternoon to discover the vintage and modern car show. Enjoy a moment of wellness with the fitness and stretching sessions presented by elvi. The Gatineau Pro Wrestling Gala is also
back, allowing you to cheer on your favourite athletes. In the evening, dance with friends and family to the music of silent disco, and watch the sky light up with Michel Quesnel, pharmacist’s fireworks.
