Shaun Boothe Headlines Black History Month at Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe
February is Black History Month, and to mark this, Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe is bringing hip-hop artist and educator Shaun Boothe to the Les Lye Studio on February 7 at 2 pm.
In Shaun’s words: “It’s a hip-hop concert that turns into a conversation about life.” Through original biographical rap songs and documentary-style visuals, he brings the stories of history’s most influential cultural icons to the stage. Part music, part storytelling, the show explores purpose, struggle, failure, and the choices that shape a life. You’ll be entertained, moved, and likely leave thinking about your own path. His shows appeal to youth, who can connect with the music and story. It’s not unheard of to see people get emotional during or after Shaun’s shows.
Shaun profiles greats such as Bob Marley, Serena Williams, Muhammad Ali, Martin Luther King, Barack Obama, Kobe Bryant, Jimmy Hendrix, James Brown, and Oprah Winfrey.
Having toured with hip-hop’s greats such as Snoop Dog, Nas, and Kendrick Lamar, Shaun sought to use his musical talent for purpose and education.
“I didn’t just want to be heard. I wanted to be useful,” says Shaun on his website. “The power of hip hop is in the stories we choose to tell. Our stories can either build us up or break us down.”
