Multi-weekend event showcases world-class chefs and great live music, from the patio of the NAC’s 1 Elgin Restaurant
OTTAWA, Thursday, April 25, 2024— Billed as The CHEF’S TABLE a farm to table feast, this multi-weekend event will once again showcase world-class chefs and great live music, from the patio of the NAC’s 1 Elgin Restaurant, by Ottawa’s gorgeous Rideau Canal. The 2024 Chef’s Table lineup will include some of the region’s most celebrated musical acts, and the respective menus will be curated by Chef Kenton Leier (of the National Arts Centre), along with several of Canada’s finest chefs.
Thanks to this dynamic partnership between the National Arts Centre and the Ontario Festival of Small Halls, ‘The CHEF’S TABLE a farm to table feast’ offers an opportunity for food lovers and music fans alike to celebrate a special occasion with a three-course meal from world-class chefs—or just enjoy reconnecting with friends over food, music, and the beauty of a summer night by the Rideau Canal.
There seems to be quite an appetite for this model—a chance to enjoy great food and music at a picturesque waterside setting. Most weekends of past Chef’s Tables sold out within the first few days of going on sale.
“This is a great way for folks to enjoy an outdoor dining experience on a terrace in the heart of the city, listening to live music performed alongside the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO world heritage site,” says Mark Monahan, the event’s executive director.

July 11-13: Chefs Kenton Leier and Leah Marshall Hannon w/ Musical Guests: Shawn Tavenier and Kelly Prescott
July 18-20: Chefs Kenton Leier and Pascal Ménard w/ Music Guests: Mackenzie & Friends
July 25-27: Chefs Kenton Leier and Connor McQuay w/ Musical Guests: Mikhail Laxton and Rebecca Noelle
When asked what patrons can look forward to on the menu, Nelson Borges, General Manager | Food and Beverage at the NAC said: “Much like the past few years, guests will enjoy an exceptional dining experience created by some of Canada’s top chefs, carefully selected through the NAC’s Resident Chef program, which highlights culinary talent from across Canada.”
The ‘Team Behind Bluesfest’ first launched the Ontario Festival of Small Halls (F.O.S.H.) with small steps—staging music events in historically important venues in a few small towns and villages near Ottawa, in Ontario, and featuring some notable Canadian talent. Then, F.O.S.H. organizers introduced the Chef’s Table to their programming. The Chef’s Table was created to highlight world class chefs utilizing local farm products to create a ‘farm-to-table’ experience.
