Over 50 hand sanitizers recalled by Health Canada

Health Canada has released a statement that over 50 hand sanitizers recalled because of unacceptable types of ethanol or denaturants that have not been approved for use in hand sanitizers in Canada. Health Canada also adds that the safety and efficacy has not been established.

There may be reactions to the ingredients, such as: eye and skin irritation, headaches and upper respiratory system irritation.

Health Canada has published a list on their website with 51 hand sanitizers that are being recalled. Health Canada suggests looking at the list on their website regularly.

Health Canada states you should stop using the named products immediately and to consult a health-care professional if you have any symptoms listed above.

Health Canada would like the public to know the hand sanitizer is not a replacement for washing your hands with soap and water but should only be used when soap and water are not available.
