OTTAWA, January 25, 2023 – A Snowfall Warning has been issued for the greater Ottawa area by Environment and Climate Change Canada. Snowfall accumulations of 15 – 20 cm can be expected beginning late Wednesday afternoon and continuing until Thursday afternoon.
Snowfall Warning is in effect for the following areas:
Merrickville-Wolford – Kemptville; Westport – Charleston Lake; Brockville – Prescott; Gananoque – Mallorytown; Maxville – Alexandria; Cornwall – Lancaster; Winchester – Newington; Morrisburg – Long Sault; Prescott and Russell; Barry’s Bay – Killaloe; Renfrew – Arnprior – Calabogie; Smiths Falls – Perth – Eastern Lanark County; Plevna – Sharbot Lake – Western Lanark County; Ottawa North – Kanata – Orléans; Ottawa South – Richmond – Metcalfe
Environment Canada says a Texas low will bring heavy snow to the Ottawa region beginning late this afternoon with total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 cm.
With the heavy snowfall residents are warned to expect reduced visibility. Additionally, rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Isolated power outages are possible.
Timing of Ottawa’s snowstorm:
Beginning late this afternoon and ending Thursday afternoon. Heavy snow will taper off to flurries Thursday afternoon. There will be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.

Ottawa residents are also advised to “prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.”
