Special Weather Statement issued for Ottawa area – potential flooding

Significant rainfall warning issued for Ottawa

OTTAWA, June 10 2024 – At 5:25 PM EDT Wednesday 10 July 2024. Environment and clmate Change Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Ottawa. Residents can expect heavy rainfall in parts of the Ottawa area due to the remnants of Hurricane Beryl continuing tonight into Thursday morning.

The amount of rain is expected to be localized ranging from 25 to 50 mm.

Details

Heavy rainfall associated with the remnants of Hurricane Beryl which ripped through the southern U.S., leaving at least eight dead in Texas and Louisiana, will continue to affect portions of central and eastern Ontario tonight.

Rainfall amounts will likely be highly variable across the region.

Of course with rapid rainfall or torrential rain, there is always a chance of temporary flooding.
