OTTAWA, Dec. 14, 2022 – Get your snow shovels and brushes ready, Ottawa! Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a Special weather statement in effect for:
- Ottawa North – Kanata – Orléans
- Ottawa South – Richmond – Metcalfe
ECCC says Ottawa can expect heavy snow on Thursday night into Friday.
This heavy snow is expected to have total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm by Saturday morning. With the snow of course, there will be reduced visibility out on the roads and particularly on the highways.
ECCC warns, “Hazardous travel conditions due to heavy snow and reduced visibility, particularly late Thursday night through Friday. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.”
The imminent snowfall is the result of a strong low pressure system affecting southern Ontario. Snow is expected to begin over eastern Ontario Thursday evening and become heavy at times late Thursday night into Friday. Snow will gradually taper to flurries Friday night.
