OTTAWA, ON, March 11, 2022 – As Ottawa receives perhaps its last significant snowfall, the Bank Street BIA is hosting a dazzling Fire & Ice Winter exhibit this weekend. Visitors will get to experience Bank Street’s interactive lighting adventure. That’s right; crafted in collaboration with EXAR Studios and OSE, from March 11 -13 the Bank Street BIA invites Ottawans and visitors to escape the winter blues by “immersing yourself in a fantasy world where fire meets ice. The Fire & Ice Winter Exhibit will dazzle you with its array of projected cinematic visuals, stunning sounds and exciting interactive lighting displays. Join us as we warm up the heart of the city during the darkest, chilliest time of the year.”

Bank Street will be closed off for pedestrian traffic only between Cooper St and Slater St.

From Mar. 11th – 13th, Bank Street will be closed-off between Cooper St. to Slater St. as this historic street becomes the canvas for a collection of interactive artwork.

At Fire & Ice, guests will discover gigantic interactive light-based art and sound installations that will take over this section Bank Street, and make the entire area come to life.

Bank Street BIA says each unique interactive installation n the light and sound tour will be unique to the participant, combining “colourful digital imageries with captivating soundtracks to create a unique form of interactive storytelling.”

Guests can walk through this self-guided, family-friendly event along this section of Bank Street and experience the area’s hidden spaces and buildings come to life through video walls, projection mapping and interactive installations.

The Fire & Ice Winter Exhibit is interactive allowing participants to take part in the installations and enjoy the offerings of 400+ businesses in Ottawa’s Bank Street neighbourhood all while respecting social distancing protocols.

On Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12, the light exhibits begin at 6pm and end at midnight. On Sunday, the light exhibit will start at 6pm and end at 11pm.

With over 400 businesses on Bank Street to visit, shop, tour, eat, and warm-up in, attendees can enjoy the festivities, support their local small businesses all while melting away the Winter blues.

Guests are advised to dress warm with toques and mitts as this weekend is going to receive another significant dose of winter weather. The Fire & Ice Winter Exhibit is a FREE to the public, self-guided, family-friendly not-to-be-missed Ottawa event!
