That’s right, wonderful people of Ottawa! Your favourite Hydrant Fountain is back by popular demand! Ottawa’s fresh new look hydrant fountains are back this summer and ready to make a splash in communities across our great city.
You’ll hardly recognize them as the City says they have undergone a stunning transformation. “I have a fabulous new look that’s bound to turn heads. So, get your cameras ready as my reveal is truly going to be selfie-worthy!” says the Hydrant Fountain? No they don’t actually speak but the City has personified the hydrant for its news release.
“I knew you would love it! Since the day I first hit your streets, you have always been my biggest fans. Your encouragement is truly heartwarming.,” reads the release.
The City says the purpose of the new hydrant fountains is to provide safe and delicious drinking water to each and every Ottawan (and visitor of course). Whether you’re out for a stroll in the park, attending a local event, or just rolling by on your way home from work, these fountains are ready to quench your thirst and hopefully put a smile on your face.
Now, in case you need a refresher:
- Ottawa has some of the safest and highest quality drinking water in the world, right from the tap.
- The City’s water is safe and reliable, it is tested 100,000 times annually.
- The City provides clean, refreshing drinking water to more than 950,000 residents via more than 3,200 kilometres of underground pipelines that connect to 23,000 hydrants.
- You can fill your 750 ml reusable water bottle 400 times for just $1.
- The City of Ottawa and its partners at Ottawa Fire Services confirm that the fountains in no way impact the ability to access a hydrant in the event of an emergency.
