Albion Road lane reductions for traffic calming project

OTTAWA, May 12, 2025 – The City of Ottawa says that Albion Road, between Johnston Road and Maple Key Private will have lane reductions between 9 am and 3:30 pm, starting on Monday, May 12 to Friday, June 27.  This interruption is for the required construction related to the Albion Road Traffic Calming Measures project, which will enhance safety for pedestrians and all road users.

Traffic calming

The objective of this project is to implement traffic calming measures, a pedestrian crossover and two sidewalk segments along Albion Road. The limits of the project span between Johnston Road to Maple Key Private. The traffic calming measures on Albion Road, between Bank Street and Lester Road, are one of the recommendations from a traffic study that was initiated in 2018. The sidewalk improvement portion of the project on Albion Road between Johnston Road and Bank Street was recommended as part of the Transportation Master Plan Update.

The proposed scope of work entails:

  • Implementation of a speed table between Aladdin Lane and Baden Avenue.
  • Implementation of a new raised pedestrian crossover Level 2 Type “B” pedestrian crossover on Albion Road, connecting to the Sawmill Creek Pathway.
  • Implementation of a new sidewalk along the west side of Albion Road between Johnston Road and Pebble Road and along the east side of Albion Road between Bank Street and 60 metres south of Hunt Club Road.
  • Implementation of curb radii reductions at the northeast and northwest quadrants at the intersection at Albion Road and Lester Road.
  • Implementation of two new bus stops along with bus pad/shelter pad as required on Albion Road between Maple Key Private and Queensdale Avenue.

Signage and flags will be in place

Signage and flags will be in place. Please plan ahead. Pedestrians will be safely accommodated through the construction and cyclists will need to share the single lane with traffic.
