Purolator Expands Ottawa Operations with New Kanata Terminal

KANATA, May 26, 2026 — Purolator has officially opened its new Kanata terminal, marking a major investment in the National Capital Region and strengthening delivery operations for residents and businesses across Ottawa. Construction on the new facility began in May 2024, with the 95,000-square-foot terminal officially beginning operations in fall 2025. Since opening, the terminal has already delivered approximately 1.37 million parcels and now supports more than 80 delivery routes throughout the Ottawa region each day.

The new Kanata terminal forms part of Purolator’s broader Ottawa-area delivery network, which also includes its Hawthorne Road terminal and an urban Bank Street location dedicated to last-mile deliveries in Downtown Ottawa and the Glebe using electric cargo bikes and low-speed vehicles.

Staffing at the Kanata terminal largely came from existing Purolator team members who transitioned from another location as the company adjusted its network, with some additional hiring to support operations. New job opportunities for this location and across Purolator are posted on their website as they come up.

“The Ottawa region continues to grow and evolve, and this new Kanata terminal positions Purolator to meet that demand now and into the future,” said Jason Belgrave, Director of Operations at Purolator. “Our investments in technology and automation are helping us work more efficiently, create a safer environment for our team and deliver reliable service to our customers across the region.”

The facility is equipped with modern automation systems and advanced material handling equipment, including sort-to-light technology designed to improve efficiency and safety. According to Purolator, the upgrades have increased processing capacity, shortened onboarding time for new employees, and enhanced workplace health and safety for team members.

Sustainability also plays a major role in the new terminal’s operations. More than 40 all-electric delivery vehicles now operate from the Kanata location, supported by on-site charging infrastructure and contributing to Purolator’s growing national fleet of more than 550 electric vehicles. Additional environmentally focused features at the terminal include high-efficiency HVAC systems, triple-pane windows, rooftop solar panels, a reflective white roof, and an infiltration gallery.

The Kanata location also includes a full-service Purolator Shipping Centre designed to provide customers with flexible shipping and pickup options. Features include a 24/7 outdoor Purolator Quick Stop Pick-Up parcel locker and drop box, along with an indoor self-serve shipping kiosk and retail customer service support.
